Hello world!

Welcome to the new B&B in L’Orignal. Never heard of L’Orignal ? Well here we go . It is a little town right midway between Ottawa Ontario and Montreal Quebec. What is so special about it that we decided to buy a house here to open a B&B? Let me think ….. there are a few reasons: – the first one was the location, not only is it close to the two major cities we (Ed and I) love – Montreal and Ottawa. L’Orignal’s history not only  goes back to 1674 !! it is also beautiful with its old world character buildings like the prison (build in 1823) and the court house 1821 (still in use ).

L’Orignal is located right at the Ottawa river and the next town, Hawkesbury, offers access to “the other side” of the Ottawa river which allows us to just skip over to visit the province of Quebec :) Love it !!

It is just a treat to live here – overlooking the river when having a cup of coffee or a glass of wine … I would say it can’t get better than that, right?!

Stylish Retreat: Not Just for Love-Birds

Why would I chose a B&B over the common hotel? I decided to start having regular creative retreats to distress and refuel the creative juices by taking solitary trips to rest, catch up on reading. One of my first choices brought me to a B&B which was ran by a nice couple somewhere in a small town close to Montreal. They had just opened this Bed and Breakfast and it had been the best choice I had made in terms of travel accommodations in a long time.

When I arrived at The B&B, I was welcomed with a cup of freshly brewed coffee, and a choice of baked goods and to top it off I was spoiled with a bottle of their self made wine. With my bottle of wine in hand, I step into my room.

I booked the white room, the smallest room available, and it suited my needs like a glove. The room had a queen-size bed riddled with pillows, an huge LCD television, and a view of the backyard garden with big trees from my window: all elements of an inviting and relaxing retreat. The convenience of a small but very modern en-suite bathroom was one of the reasons I really liked this room.

The pampering did not stop there. An abundance of DVDs and books, a hot chocolate or a cup of tea at night, and a wonderful breakfast complete what I now call the perfect boutique experience.

The B&B also offered bigger rooms one even with a private balcony. Rooms were both affordable and worth the while. I checked out after two days of enjoyment of absolute peace and quiet. I left rested, and happy that I was able to find THE perfect place for my idea of a relaxing escape from my hectic schedule.
